Boston-Based CommonWealth Purchasing Group Serves Nation’s Community Health Centers

For Immediate Release

SANTA FE, New Mexico (March 24, 2016) CommonWealth Purchasing Group (CPG), a national group purchasing organization (GPO) focused on leveraging the purchasing power of community health centers, has named Seamless Medical to its elite group of approved vendors, a group that includes companies like AT&T, LabCorp, McKesson, and Toshiba. Seamless is the creator of the Seamless Patient Platform™, a true end-to-end digital patient engagement platform that integrates with leading practice management and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

As a CommonWealth Purchasing Group approved vendor, Seamless’ patient engagement platform will be available to the 475 community health centers in 36 states that are members of CommonWealth. The GPO negotiates attractive rates with approved vendors, which benefits community health centers that serve as the nation’s “safety net” healthcare providers.

CommonWealth Purchasing Group Director Rick Bryant said Seamless is a perfect complement to its portfolio of some 75 approved vendors, offering a very “consumer-centric” patient engagement solution. “We look for vendors whose products or services enhance our members’ ability to provide quality healthcare services as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. Community health centers primarily serve the uninsured and under-insured population and have limited budgets. The Seamless Patient Platform™ will enable community health centers to achieve measurable improvements in efficiency and reduce operating costs, while improving the patient experience. Having Seamless on board is very advantageous for our members,” commented Bryant.

Seamless Founder and CEO David Perez said his company’s solution addresses the unique workflow challenges of community health centers. “Research conducted by the California HealthCare Foundation determined that patient registration was the biggest pain point for community health centers. Paper forms were intimidating and often incomplete due to language or literacy barriers. Staff spent an inordinate amount of time deciphering forms and trying to get complete information before manually entering patient data into their systems.”

Continued Perez, “With Seamless, patients are handed a tablet with forms in English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese or Vietnamese. The language is simple and most questions are answered with a yes, no or checkbox. Completed forms upload automatically to the EMR or practice management system. Our experience shows registration time is reduced by 80 percent, door-to-door time is cut by 40 percent, centers realize efficiency gains of at least 20 percent, and costs associated with paper are dramatically reduced. We’re very pleased to have the opportunity to bring these benefits to more centers thanks to CPG.”

In 2015, the California Healthcare Foundation and The Kresge Foundation invested $1.5 million in Seamless to accelerate national adoption of the Seamless Patient Platform™ among community health centers.
